To a group of Bar Mitzvah boys and their parents, may they live.

May the ¹ Almighty bless and grant success to each of the Bar Mitzvah boys together with their parents

(the fathers and the mothers)

with the brothers and the sisters, with the entire family — that they should prepare for the Bar Mitzvah and conduct themselves also afterwards throughout their entire lives with joy and a good heart, and in goodness and health, and be well-ordered in general, and also in the study of Torah and in the fulfillment of the commandments.

And as is the custom of Israel — on the day of the Bar Mitzvah

(or,

if it falls on Shabbat,

on the day before or after)

one should give to charity,

both the Bar Mitzvah boy himself from his own money,

and the parents from their money for his merit.

May this add even more to the Almighty's blessings,

that he should be as a Jew needs to be — "complete in his body,

complete in his soul, and complete in his Torah" ²,

whole in the study of Torah and fulfillment of the commandments, and in daily conduct according to the instructions of our Torah, the Torah of life,

and through this bring much nachas and true nachas to his parents and to the entire family and to the entire Jewish people,

with joy and a good heart,

and go ever higher and better and more alive in all matters of Judaism and in all matters of good in general.

And also,

as is the custom of Israel — the Bar Mitzvah boy should, on the day of the Bar Mitzvah, learn the fourteenth chapter of the Book of Psalms ³,

and take upon himself with more vitality and strength the good and strong resolution to be a G‑d-fearing person, a scholar, and a chassid.

And in this manner, it also applies regarding a "Bas Mitzvah."

And the parents will surely also provide a living example,

by increasing in their personal conduct in daily life according to the instructions of the Torah,

and doing so with joy and a good heart, a good livelihood, and good health.

And especially since we come from the days of the time of our freedom,

which is connected with the liberation

(freedom)

of all Jews from all matters that cause confusion,

matters that disturb Jewish life in all its details,

and the Almighty gives blessing and success in the liberation.

And especially since we now stand at a time when we prepare to receive the Torah anew at the time of the giving of our Torah,

which is the content of "Sefiras HaOmer" — that we count the days between the Exodus from Egypt and the Giving of the Torah ⁴.

May it be His will that very soon the Bar Mitzvah boys and all their family members together with the entire Jewish people,

merit to go to our holy land,

and there specifically to Jerusalem, the holy city,

and to the Holy Temple,

"the Sanctuary, Hashem, which Your hands established" ⁵,

and there fulfill "according to the commandments of Your will" ⁶ in completeness.

And also the preparations for this should be in a bright, lively, Jewish, and chassidic manner,

which adds even more success in all these matters about which we spoke earlier,

in which all Jews are included.

In order to have the merit of participating in this,

and to take part in the joy ⁷ of the Bar Mitzvah,

which is a joy of the entire Jewish people,

since this is a joy of the Almighty — I will give each of you,

the Bar Mitzvah boys and their relatives,

a dollar,

in order to give the dollar to charity for the merit of the Bar Mitzvah boy,

and how good if one will add to this from one's own money.

And if possible,

one should give it to a charity that is connected with proper education and education in holiness — because this is indeed connected with the fact that one sees nachas through educating a son who grows up and reaches the state where he becomes a complete Jew,

a Bar Mitzvah — by adding, giving, and helping with the education of other children,

it adds even more to the success of the education of the Bar Mitzvah boys.

May it be His will,

that very soon there should be the true and complete redemption of every Jew and of all Jews,

including the Bar Mitzvah boys with their families,

and "a great congregation shall return here" ⁸,

to the true and complete redemption through our righteous Moshiach.
